How do you pour a NE IPA?

depends if you like yeast from bottle conditioned beer. mostly, i don't. A NEIPA should be hazy without depending on swirled bottle dregs to get there...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Westvleteren 12 Clone - Multiple Award Winner

Sorry to Bogart this thread, but I want to report that the D-90 didn't hurt this beer at all. I think the D-90 is just like doing a wort boil down. The gravity sample tastes great! I did get stuck at 1.022 a few days ago but I threw a hydrated pack of S – 05 in there and now I'm down to...

    Belgian Wit Recipe

I think with a 30 min protein rest before the sacch rest it's going to be fine - I did this in a recent witbier and I got all the conversion I needed for my full OG. After doing several witbiers, however, I would say using the unmalted wheat is not worth the extra step (even though BJCP styles...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Westvleteren 12 Clone - Multiple Award Winner

Ok, going to add the d-90 into the fermenter tonight to get this recipe close to where it ought to be. Is the consensus that the safer thing to do is boil it first?

    Missed Start gravity

Assuming you mashed at 150 for an hour, you should have had better efficiency. What about your grain crush and freshness? How about your water? My understanding is efficient saccharification occurs at a mash ph between about 5.1 to 5.7.

Lhbs out of the d-180 but has the d-90. Maybe as the third lb. it would be alright...

Belgian Dark Strong Ale Westvleteren 12 Clone - Multiple Award Winner

Brewed this today: my efficiency was down a little and my post boil volume was a bit too much so I ended up with about 5.75 gal of 1.082 wort. I only used 2 bags of d-180 at the end of the boil. I'm inclined to add another bag (if I can find it) at high krausen. Any thoughts?

Temps to use for Fermenting with Harvested Bell's Oberon Yeast

I cultured one bottle of Oberon dregs, stepped it up once and pitched a 1400ml starter into 5.4 gal of two hearted clone at 1.062. Started fermenting at 64 measured by my brew bucket probe. Ramped up to 68 over a week and it attenuated to 1.011. Tastes great. If you're tempted to ferment...

    New BIAB False Bottoms

Yes I remove mine preboil because I find with my boilcoil, big hop screen, and then the immersion chiller, it's just easier. I fashioned a hook out of a wire coat hanger and pull up from the center...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Centennial IPA -- can't let myself run out of this stuff... Using the 2 Hearted recipe found here on HBT... and hopefully harvested Oberon yeast.

    Yes, we have no bananas!

I think I will try my next one a tad warmer. But, I have to say, after adjusting the keezer temp and serving a couple on the weekend, there is a little banana and clove in there. I don't know what the ideal serving temp is but not 37F.... In short it turned out to be a good beer and pretty...

    Yes, we have no bananas!

We have no banana today, because I temp controlled (probe inside brewbucket) my hefe (recipe below) at 64F and didn't let it rise. I guess I had read I would get a mix of clove and nanners but kegged it today and sadly, it's got clove and some tartness but AFAI can tell, no :ban: Oh well, it...

    Cereal Killer Mill Adjustment

Haha, mines set to visa... if I grind a little on the faster side I can almost get flour... I use a little rice hills though because I recirculate with eBIAB and it works great. I think it's pretty good for a cheap 2 roller mill.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Same hops and same grain bill here. I agree this is a good combo. Only thing I'd do different next time is mash a bit higher. Enjoying a little right now while brewing a hefe.
