    Make IPA Clear Again

Sie haben den Reinheitsgebot verraten!!! --- This really got me laughing though. My wife bought this thinking it was like the summer "shandy" that I brew, which is basically a pale ale and lemon skins. She was horrified at the taste and dumped them out.

Saison on leftover yeast from Belgian Tripel?

I was suspecting that. I was also thinking about the condition of the yeast here. I pitched plenty imo for the initial batch of tripel, but I'm not sure how tired the yeast would be after a 7.5-8% beer. I always use fresh yeast--More variables here than a normally roll with. But hey, its just...

Saison on leftover yeast from Belgian Tripel?

Actually, in this case my secondary is a keg. Bulk conditioning and all.

Saison on leftover yeast from Belgian Tripel?

So brewed a Belgian Tripel 2 weeks ago with a double smack pack of 3787. Temps were between 74 and 82 the whole time. OG was 1.065. This tripel reached 1.004 a couple of days ago and I thought, "hey, can I reuse this for a variation of my high grav saison? (8.5%) As I understand it, overpitching...

Very Slow Fermentation With Mangrove Jack's Yeast

A terrible off flavor, one that I haven't been able to describe. The attempted beers were proven recipes and methods with only the yeast as a variable. I'm not claiming that everything else was perfect but I never have had flavor like that before these 2 beers and never since. I tried to drink...

Very Slow Fermentation With Mangrove Jack's Yeast

I had have had mixed results with MJ-54. Most were slow starters but they always took off after a couple extra lag days. The last 2 times I brewed with it however, I had much worse problems. I was singing it's praises the first time I brewed with it but the 3rd and 4th brews that I used it will...

    Grainfather!!

Same here- held at 90F for a few days, no issues. I just created a test recipe and I put in 300 minutes for 2 mash cycles and 1000 in the third. So unless the unit itself refuses to follow the recipe program, I would think it would work fine.

    Grainfather!!

Is this with the Grainfather connect? I am able to put in just about any quantity of minutes into the recipe creator. That isn't to say that the grainfather itself wouldn't click on boil after a 2 hours. ...then again, I think I have had a mash go over 2 hours before too.

Isopropyl Alcohol released from airlock into fermenter.

If you feel like being safe then by all means play it safe. But for the sake of argument, if a lethal dose is something like 8.5 oz and you have 0.5 oz mixed in 5 gallons of beer you are probably more likely to die from alcohol poisoning from the ethanol in the beer from the quantities that it...

Isopropyl Alcohol released from airlock into fermenter.

Or even if it is comparable to the amount that you inhale from normal use due to rapid evaporation.

    Warm Fermented Lager Thread

If you're doing extract then the Texas bock by AHS is great. That's where I started. Check their all-grain version recipe. That is what I started with and have only done a few tweaks to that one. Nothing super secret about the changes to AHS recipe but I don't have them with me at work. I would...

    Danby DAR044

I have used mine as a ferm chamber. The issue I had was that the bottom is not deep enough for probably any 5+ gallon fermenter. I placed the back of the fermenter on the molded shelf in the back and added an improvised stilt to hold the front at the same height. It was then too close to the top...

Mangrove Jack's telling me what to do!

I have had one of my beers turn out like this... A Shiner Bock clone with a terrible grain crush using old grain that lead to low OG which was then put into a poorly sanitized carboy. Worst beer I have ever made but still drinkable. The other 5 times I have done ale-temp lager ferments have...
