at what temp did you steep ur grains if any. and i have gotten that taste from boiling my wort at to high of a temp, did you have a bunch of stuff burnt on the bottom of your kettle.
Makin a lager double bock and its been sitting for six months. I need to throw more yeast at bottling so im using a dry ale yeast about half a pack. so do i need to hydrate these little devils or what.
Quick question, has anyone ever aged a barleywine in a 5 gallon torched oak barrel or for that matter on a bed of oak chips in a fermenter. Did it taste good? Just had the thought, I heard that a good BW can be aged 25 years or more. not that it would make it that long but id like to try...
you can allways get a cartridge co2 connect for dispensing thats what i do when i bring the keg to a friends house i imagine you can do the same if you dont have room or dont want to drill through you fridge
malty beers tend to cover up alot of the bad it may be a little off but you should be fine after you drink ten to fifteen of them bad boys, you wont notice a thing.
what i did to get started everytime i came across a term i did not understand, I googled it, then you got urself a definition. It helped me tremendously.
all gaskets on my keg have been replaced and lubed. my process is refrigerate beer one day to 38 degrees (optimal temp for co2 absorption) connect gas at 30 psi. thats what i was told to use. roll the keg for a while till the thumping goes away. return upright release excess pressure in keg...
yeast will do amazing things to your beer sometimes. as for a hoppy taste i found that i really enjoy a american honey brown ale with 3 split vanilla beans in secondary. it turned out phenomenal with a very nice bitter note to it.
what im worried about is if i get a new regulator set it for 5 at dispensing and the keg builds pressure like it is currently doing i dont want the beer to scoot up the gas line and into my regulator
My regulator i got for free its new but geared more for higher pressures so till i get a better one it will work for forced carbonation. or is this the reason i am having a problem
Ok I have kegged one beer so far and i am running into an issue where my dispensing pressure keeps building i am not using my tank to dispense i am using a cartridge hook up then just taking it off. its a real pain in the arse to have to release pressure then poor that and it is slowly taking...
thanks for the hints i think i just may use an IPA for this, Ive never tried that. the whole idea of using apricots was because i fell in love with pyramid's apricot ale. However I want to try something new so meeting adjourned.
