    Best beers available in Wisconsin

Wow that was the only beer in college that did not disappear when I told the roommates to enjoy. 8.99 a 30 pack if I remember. Granted it was not keystone so it had a kick...

    White film on homebrew

I have similar every summer when my fermentation temps get up there. I think I notice a little off flavor, but not too much. I would bottle as you have, and then the monitor. What yeast did you use?

    Naming your brew

A little bit. At first they were all dog related names, such as docked tail pale ale, etc. now just a bit. Mostly known by type.

Handheld Tap or Tower - Does it make a difference?

I have used picnic taps in a fridge for over 2 years. No issues. Never drained a keg by accident.

    Winter is gone

A little out of the way, but check out the Stevens point, Wausau area. O'so, central waters, point brewery, red eye, bull falls. Point is 1.5 hours from Madison and 1 hour from Oshkosh. As for beers to brew, maybe a cream ale or farmhouse ale? Lots of my family loves those. Maybe a spotted...

    What my wife says

I guess I have it good. I started brewing while dating my wife. It was the last test. She did not mind it, so we got married. Since then we each have our own spending money, so no quarrels there. Also no quarrels when she goes shopping. Now I just time the brewing around her and the kids...

do you brew more or drink more?

Brew more than drink. Have not bought commercial in a few years, other than traveling or something really specialty. Once you get the pipeline started, just don't let it run dry. 3-4 cases of bottles, 8 kegs, 3 on tap, keep 1 or 2 fermenting and you will be fine....Drink 1-3 almost every day....

    "Grain vs. Extract" Batch Prices

Yes, I think AG is definately worth it. Figure $30 a batch extract or more. I think I can brew most of my AG batches for under $20 a batch.....Have not calculated recently though....

    cleaning kegs

Ditto beerward. Good soak to begin with, then follow up soaks as needed each batch. I just run the oxyclean through the lines after each keg empties.

FIB in need of Cheesehead assistance

tevens Point and plover kind of run together, very difficult to tell which one is which.... Oso is off of Hwy B in plover, near menards (next door). Maybe 6 miles from the hwy 10 east exit, and hwy b runs into hwy 10. Oso does serve their beers with the rest of the 40 taps being other's beer.

Fight brewing over homebrew proposal in Wisconsin

The funny part was it was just a recent interpretation. Transported for years without issue. I heard the other house's bill made it through committee unopposed. All of our legislators are boneheads, but hopefully common sense will prevail.

FIB in need of Cheesehead assistance

O'so is the ticket. All posted is true, they are my LHBS, 40 wisconsin taps in the taproom. 3 other restaurants in the strip mall. Head to Christian's if on the company dime. Hampton Inn across the parking lot, other hotels nearby. It is in Plover. Point brewery has some tours, but not...

    Sanitation Away From Home?

I've used a 1 gallon garden sprayer, all plastic from walmart for like 8 bucks. Awesome. Mix up a gallon, use until it is gone. Switched to star san 70 batches ago, still on 1st 8 oz bottle. Spray into racking tube to sanitize, hold finger over the end and you are ready to siphon. Spray...

    Coil Wort Chiller question.

I am not sure it matters in practice, but I think bottom up may be the preferred way...
