Use for Second Runnings and Spent Grain?

My wife makes some pretty darn good cookies and I'm sure the dog biscuits that she makes are good too, but I haven't tried them. Dog seems to approve! Anyone use spent grain to hunt over? Seems I could use it for deer? I can imagine it would go something like this: "Oh, what is that sweet...

    Fast Ferment Issue

For what it's wort(h), I've found that gravity wins every time... There have been times i thought that thing was clogged, but I've alway been surprised that all that trub eventually finds its way into the ball. Patience and gravity .. It's SCIENCE! :fro:

    No Chillers + Adjustments

This is EXACTlY what I was wondering and exactly what I'll do.. I'll use my IC to get to 180 and call it good... Rack to cube, and use the hot water that I collected to clean up. PERFECT.

    No Chillers + Adjustments

Let's say its 68F. How would I calculate to 85F wort? I'd like to use the value in Beersmith. Beersmith says: Using this same feature you can now get an accurate estimate for “no chill” brewing. You mark the box to estimate boil hop utility in the whirlpool to carry forward remaining...

    No Chillers + Adjustments

Hi, I am going to experiment with the No Chill method soon. I have heard to move the hop additions out 20 minutes for each addition, but I'm wondering what other no-chill brewers do in the hop schedule. Also I see Beersmith has a setting in the equipment profile called "steep hop...

How much water to get to 68 degrees?

okay after more research, I'm feeling better about this problem. Here is my solution. I think I'll go with a plate chiller... I'm curious to know which or how many plates one might need once you understand the process I envision... 1 . use a small sump or pond pump to move water in an ice bath...

How much water to get to 68 degrees?

Hi everyone, I'm going to be soon faced with a dilemma where I brew.. We are moving and the only brew-space I could use lacks drains and a water source.. That means I need to bring water in and dispose of it somehow.. Anyway, I'm wondering how many gallons of water it takes to bring wort...

    FastFerment conical fermenter??????

your FF Conical has more headspace than most fermenters and this is why you aren't seeing the activity. You also can't see through it, but I imagine you have krausen.. I can assure you though, if you brewed everything perfectly, you're going to have beer in the end! There is no reason for...

"What does this mean!? It's bright and vivid!" https://youtu.be/OQSNhk5ICTI?t=1m8s I decided I couldn't wait for an API to be released, so I dug into it with a bluetooth dongle on a pi and found the pertinent points if anyone is interested. I used hcitool lescan to find the...

Hops sealed not in 'fridge.. How long will they last?

A friend gave to me a bag of a variety of hops. He had them sealed in air-tight baggies, and were kept frozen.. I kept them in a keezer until I needed to make room and then I realized that I didn't return them to the keezer.. Well, most of the winter they were in the garage and I just...
