Two luxurious nights in Cedar Rapids IA

If your downtown there a few good places the homebrew club meets at bricks a lot. White Star Ale house and Parlor City are pretty good as well. Outside of downtown Zeppelins on edgewood has a good tap selection and 2 for 1 3-6 every night. 3rd base brewery on Blairs ferry is a nice brew pub with...

    Element Length Question

Maybe a no duh but go to Lowes or Home Depot or the hardware store with a tape measure and buy your element there.

    EXP 6300 From Farmhouse

I just got an order from Farmhouse Brewing Supply. Instead of the pound of Citra I ordered I got a pound of EXP 6300. I called them and they were very nice and offered to send out my pound of Citra on Monday. They also offered to let me keep the pound of 6300 for 8 bucks. I'm wondering if this...

    Can I pull this off...?

Because your not making a starter your pitching from slury ie what's left at the bottom of your fermenter when you rack your finished beer out of it.

    How to spend some cash

I have used mostly dry yeast but I do have a DIY stirplate that works pretty good when I use washed yeast or liquid yeast. Since I use mostly dry yeast I haven't worried much about O2 but if I used liquid I have just done the multiple pours between vessiles to get O2 in. I don't have a...

    How to spend some cash

Hey just won my fantasy football league at work. I am going to get around $150 as prize money which I think will go towards brewing some how but I'm not sure what to get. I brew 5 gallon batches all grain brew in a bag. I use the 9 gal aluminum pot that came with the turkey fryer. I have 2...

    Coke 20 lb CO2 Tank

Your probably going to need to use some JB or Bondo to erase all coke markings from it because I'm sure it's stamped somewhere. The good news is that lots of places that do exchanges will take your Coke tank even if it's full of coke stickers and is painted red.

Standalone, Plug and Play Raspberry Pi Headless Brewstand Controller-Server

Seems like the usb is the way to go at least after reading the link thread. Any recommendations as far as which adapter to get?

Standalone, Plug and Play Raspberry Pi Headless Brewstand Controller-Server

Really like this idea. I don't have much experience with Linux but just ordered my Raspberry Pi. I had kind of been looking for an excuse to get one anyway. Right now I'm wondering if I would be better to get a 1 Wire adapter or just use the onboard interface on the Pi? Right now I do BIAB with...

    Canned Air Dusters

I know its flammable that's why they warn against use with a paper shredder

    Bamboo flooring countertops

Why not just do a plywood countertop? Depending on size I think you could build something pretty cool for cheap.

    Creating your own hybrid yeast?

I don't that it works that way at all. I think lager yeast and ale yeast are separate species and what would happen is depending on condions either one yeast or the other would dominate and the other would die out. Different strains are developed by using one strain over and over until it...

    Vessels for Stir Plates

I used a flower vase I stole from my wife works great and I was able to replace the vase I stole for 89 cents at the local goodwill. Vases work better than jars or jugs because you can find them with flat bottoms. I have a glass top stove so I can't boil in a flask anyways.
