I moved this to a keg with an airlock on it to let it ferment some more but I bet I'm going to have to throw the entire thing down the sink. Hurts when it's a big beer like a Wee Heavy. I'm going to email SS Brewtech to see what they say.
By the way, what solution did you come up with to...
Any ideas on what caused the mold around the silicone gasket? I'm pretty sure my cleaning routine was thorough. I'm thinking this wee heavy isn't going turn out well.
One idea on the volume issue is buying a stainless steel ruler and use that to measure the wort volume. There's a formula based on kettle radius and wort temperature you can use to determine the volume. I did this for years.
It turns out it doesn't matter much for the near future because I'm an idiot and didn't realize my outlet is 4 prong and my new system is 3 prong. So I'm waiting on an electrician.
Since I don't have any, and I don't have CIP, that would mean 10 lbs of citric acid. Fwiw, the ones recommending Star San is As Brewtech in their instructions.
When the manufacturer recommends you passivate with something like Star San, does that mean fill the entire 20g kettle? Or just maybe 4g and apply with a sponge to the rest? Just wondering if I need a big bottle of Star San.
It does have the "test" label on it. I forgot to mention that part. It always confuses me how sometimes the voltage will be listed as 220 and other 240. And I totally missed that the amps were on the lever.
I am thinking of switching to the Ss Brewtech system and the specs say that "240VAC 30AMP GFCI Dedicated Circuit Required". Several years ago I had an outlet and 220 circuit added to my garage for my current system. But looking at the panel I can't see any label or specs for the circuit and I...
And time might be the main factor with maybe the imperial stout that is an outlier. The Belgian strong ale that I just moved to secondary was very active so I hope if it gets 3 or 4 weeks it might reach an expected FG. I've never tried this weekly big beer "experiment" before so it's been eye...
Have you ever seen the wort get drained too fast? I'm surprised it hasn't caused the bottom to get dry. Maybe since both the drain and whirlpool port are outside the bag it doesn't have the issues I face now.
