    New HB from Bucks County

Check out Keystone Homebrew by the Montgomeryville mall. Very helpful, great selection, and they have an awesome Homebrew club that meets the third Thursday of every month. I'm a home fewer in Willow Grove and that's where I go.

    Temperature Experiment

Looked up the hops, they are as follows. 1 oz. Pallisade(60 min) .5 oz centennial(10 min) .5 oz columbus(10 min) .5 oz centennial(flameout) .5oz columbus(flameout)

    Temperature Experiment

I'm a small apartment brewer, and I brew extract batches, usually 2.5 gallon batches. Recently, I decided to do an experiment with a pale kit from northern brewer. I brewed the shining star pale ale kit exactly as the recipe specified, the only change was using rehydrated US-05 yeast instead of...

    My first homebrew(noob activity documented)

Also not quite sure why you put it in the bath tub, but if you stirred everything up, it will take a while to settle back down.

    My first homebrew(noob activity documented)

I would bottle now, 4 weeks should be plenty of time for fermentation to finish. Especially with a gravity that low. And clear is a relative term, it won't be bmc clear yet. Bottle, condition for 3 weeks then chill for 3 days and you'll be amazed at the difference in clarity.

    Question about BJCP style

I haven't tasted the carbonated finished product, but flat I just don't think it's clean enough for a lager. And I used Saaz hops, and dry hopped with them, and I'm really pleased with the aroma. I sort of kicked around the fringes of brewing before, but just got back I to it and made a real...

    Question about BJCP style

Thanks. I've brewed up some kits I had laying around and that particular brew came out amazing. And there is a competition at the end of the month in my area, so I thought I would enter it, I just didn't know what style to out it under.

    Question about BJCP style

If I brewed a kit labeled a pilsner, but I brewed it with ale yeast, what BJCP style guideline would that fall under? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Pumpkin Ales, I love thee

Maybe I'll like them better once I brew one of my own, but I've never been able to really enjoy pumpkin ales. Just not my favorite style I guess. Although, I've made great pumpkin beer bread with pumpkin ales.

    Yeast Question

The best I can do is brew them both on the same day, in the same type of fermenter and store them next to each other in the same closet. No ferm chamber with controlled temps though.

    Yeast Question

That's why I bought the Safale in the first place. i've used the kits before though, and its a new package for the yeast that came with it, so I thought I might use both packs(I bought two kits) and hopefully that will be enough viable cells for a decent ferment.

    Yeast Question

It is a Cooper's Kit. It could still be a fun experiment just to see if there is any difference. I guess I would just measure daily gravity readings to see what the different strains were doing?

    Yeast Question

I have two strains of yeast, Safale S-05 and an unidentified under the lid strain of yeast from a kit. I have two fermenters and I want a basic extract recipe that will show the characteristics of the yeast more than anything. Figured I would do a side by side comparison of the two strains of...

The Birth of the Craft Brew Revolution

Just read this book by Ben Nowak, apparently it was the 1st beer appreciation column in the country in the mid 80's. a little dated yea, but it's still a great read. Anyone else read it? Disclaimer: I've met Ben Nowak, he's a nice guy, and an awesome guy have a beer with.

    Good Night

I just had a cuban macanudo and a McSorley's Black Irish lager on the roof of my apartment building. Best Christmas gift yet.
