    Anyone buy DME in bulk?

I switched from extract to all grain 5 years ago. Used to buy in 25 kg bags and split into zip locks. I just discovered several zip lock bags of extract in my cupboard. It's all in perfect shape.

    Secure your CO2 cylinders!

All of my cylinders have solid hand-wheels - no hole for a zip tie. I am looking into thread caps, but so far haven't found anything here in Canada.

    Secure your CO2 cylinders!

Wasn't worried about losing CO2, it was breathing it that would have been an issue.

    Secure your CO2 cylinders!

I had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago, but that's not what almost killed me. I had brought my refilled CO2 cylinder in from the car and set it down by my keezer. I had chest discomfort throughout the afternnoon and then suddenly felt nauseous. As I headed for the washroom, I collapsed...

IPA lack of aroma / off flavors - kegging nightmare

As day_tripper said, completely fill the keg with sanitizer. I keep my keg sanitizer in a spare keg. I transfer it to clean kegs with CO2. I prop the keg with the CO2 port high and fill through the "keg out" port. I usually save up until I have several kegs to clean and sanitize, so I connect...

IPA lack of aroma / off flavors - kegging nightmare

Like he said. But I don't bother with CO2 pressurized transfer. I use my auto-syphon with a keg connector to the "keg out" connection. I brew long, so I overflow the keg from the CO2 port into a 2 L pop bottle, which I refrigerate and then carbonate with a carb cap for an early tasting. I prop...

Cool chart. Saved for posterity. Gotta remember this with three hairballs in the house EDIT: The "CLICK" intrigued me, so I chased it down - here is the interactive version: http://fixitnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/39305150-Warm-Refrigerator-Troubleshooting-Flowchart.pdf

Is getting a lab test water profile a waste of time?

Are you really trying to scare him?

Is getting a lab test water profile a waste of time?

In my province, all routine historical test values are available over the internet. Perusing them quickly showed the variability of our water and convinced me that RO was my only choice. Some water supplies are very stable, but only historical records over a period of years will tell you that.

I was asking more on how to test if this is the problem. It looks like it was "let's try this first 'cause it's cheap". Will bookmark it anyway. Thanks.

From e2f.com: "As the word octopus ends in us, it is very tempting to assume that it’s of latin origin, such as nucleus (plural nuclei) or alumnus (plural alumni) and that its plural should then be octopi. The usual plural in English is actually octupuses, which would not be the only case...

Guide to Reverse Osmosis Systems for Homebrewers

I have been buying RO water and adding minerals since I first started paying attention to water quality. Since buying a TDS pen, I have discovered that my local source is scarcely better than my tap water (270 vs 330 mg/L!). I can still get 20 mg/L in the next town 35 km away, but that's a real...
