    Infection?

It is an actual picture of the exact moment I tasted the beer actually lol

    Infection?

Also, to anyone interested, I cold crashed the beer for kegging to see if I could salvage it, and the beer tasted so medicinal and gross I just tossed it. I have a couple ideas of what could have happened, I think the moral of the story is sanitize even when you don't think you need to.

    Infection?

They were really weird, I was in ambulatory care March and went from taking INR's and seeing patients directly to staying at home and doing journal clubs and topic discussions every day. We didn't even have an April APPE lol. It is nice to be done though. It has been fun so far, the...

    Infection?

I have a pale ale fermenting, am 1.5 weeks in and am getting a very slight, but strange musty peanut butter taste (best I can describe it). I had another beer from a few weeks ago (a NEIPA) have a similar taste, but much stronger, to the extent that I had to dump it. Here is a pic, I can't tell...

I have a problem where most of my NEIPA's taste the same regardless of hops used. Help?

I can't tell if it's my water chemistry, or maybe I haven't done a whirlpool'd beer until recently when I got the equipment to do so, but i'll say 60% of the time my NEIPA's have the same flavor regardless of hops used. It's the "fruity but I can't tell what fruit" taste for all of them, very...

Looking to upgrade my brewing setup, any suggestions?

For the past couple years I have brewed with the whole tried-and-true cooler mash tun/hot liquor tank/propane burner/kettle setup, which so far has worked great. However, the equipment takes up so much room in my smallish place, and it requires a lot of cleaning at the end of the day. Plus, I...

Is there a genetic component to tasting grassy flavors in beer?

That is the thing, I have never excessively hopped anything. The last beer I used I had 3 oz total in the boil/whirlpool starting at 15 minutes, 1 oz dry hop for a 5 gal batch for 3 days before kegging. One thing I have noticed which is weird is if I dry hop cold in the keg I get no grassiness...

Is there a genetic component to tasting grassy flavors in beer?

I have been brewing for a couple years now, and have experimented with a LOT of different NE IPA recipes. A lot of these beers, especially when using NZ/AUS hops, have an overly grassy flavor to me that really bothers me. My last NE IPA had Nelson Sauvin in it, and every time I pour a glass I...
