I have window unit in mine that can keep it 60 degrees even when it is well over 110 degrees outside. In the winter I use a small space heater and can keep it colder. It's basically storage and a walk in fermentation chamber. I still brew outside.
I washed all my 12 oz brown bottles and filled over 100 of them with hefeweizen. This is my first time using the new W-68. The final sample was good but it's not WLP-300. There wasn't much aroma when bottling.
I also kegged one part of a 15 gallon batch of pale ale. The other 10 gallons are...
I wouldn't hesitate to use these if they look good. If you can't clean a bucket you can't brew.
Living in Utah also I know these are being sold for food storage. I buy my fermenter buckets new from a local food storage place, but I store grain in free used ones.
The four tap collar is done. I covered it with PVC roofing and reflective insulation. It still needs a better drip try and gas lines.
Sadly, my oxbar 8L kegs do not fit on the hump. I have a couple five pound c02 tanks there now. One thing I really like is that there is enough room to keep...
My 6.9 Insignia has been turned back into a freezer. It fit 5 kegs, one on the hump with a 2x6 collar. It's worked really well for me. I've gone through a number of 7cu ft keezers.
I'm going to make a new 3 inch collar with four taps. A three-inch collar will let the hinges hit some of the...
I like my allrounder as a presure fermenter
I have been able to pressure ferment 15 gallons of lagers in my Allrounder.
These new keg/plastic bottle things are great. I'm fortunate to have plenty of used cornies. Some cost less than these.
I started with can and kilo kits in '94. Anything is an improvement over those. I read The Complete Joy of Home Brewing. That helped a lot. I even got an understanding of the mash. But I could not source ingredients very well back then. I think I did a half dozen or so can+kilos. The internet...
I get most hops from Hops Direct or YVH. I do get some form Morebeer, William's and other places. I can't ever seem to get all the varieties I want at one place.
This was 23 hours in. Another dry pitch. Strong air lock activity. This batch is split with AY3 and Apex London. I don't know what yeast is better for this recipe because I've never brewed it before. AY3 did very well in an oatmeal stout split batch I did.
The big mouth bubbler does make the...
