    Wort Chilling Question

I think an immersion chiller would be much easier to clean and sanitize. Also you wouldn't need a sanitary pump if you're hooking it up to a faucet.

    Broken keg post

I never did get them separated. The broken off threaded part of the keg is still stuck in the post.

    Broken keg post

Thanks for the advice and replacement part link. I'll try it. By "silver solder", do you mean the basic lead-free silver alloy solder, or something else?

    Broken keg post

I have no idea how this happened but somehow the gas post became cross threaded or otherwise stuck on the threads of my Draft Brewer keg. I had no options but to try and crank it off with a ratchet and socket. Of course the threaded post snapped off of the keg instead. Does anybody know if this...

Ideal temperature for brett yeast in secondary?

Wow 85C! I don't think my heating belt would be able to pull that off.

    help improving 60% efficiency

You could try upgrading from a braid to a false bottom. It was explained to me that the small surface area of a braid or bazooka screen could cause channeling when draining the mash, leaving some of the sugars behind.

    Clogged Hop Spider

I've had the same clogging problem with mine. I've also noticed that the wort within the hop spider doesn't seem to be boiling. I can only assume the hops are isolated within the clogged filter and not being fully utilized. I wasn't able to find a solution, so I've stopped using it.

    Habanero Peppers?

I recently made a smoked saison with habanero. I prepped 1 habanero and 2 Zavory peppers (a tame habanero hybrid from Burpee, same flavor and aroma but mild heat) by halving, deseeding and soaking in vodka. I put them in a giant SS tea ball and suspended them in my keg with dental floss. After...

Post Boil - low gravity - how can I raise it post boil?

Never done it, but it seems like it should be ok. Considering many extract brewers with small kettles add top up water post boil. But to go through all the extra work before pitching the yeast, is it worth it? Personally I might just take the slightly lower ABV and slight higher IBUs and call it...

    Black IPA Attempt

I like using midnight wheat malt in my black IPAs. At 550 L, it's easy to get your black color while still keeping a simple malt build.

    When to use carapils?

I'm curious how cara-pils affects the FG since it creates unfermentable sugars? I'm building a recipe for a simple, very dry Tripel and trying to figure out what percentage of cara-pils to use. I'm thinking 14 lbs pilsner and 2.5 lbs Belgian candy and mashing low, around 148-149. I often use...

Thoughts on a 4 Tap Kegerator?

Here's a couple links https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHWy_Vlw3J4 http://homebrewacademy.com/how-to-build-a-keezer You can get by using only lumber (no hardwood façade) and without doing 45 degree miter cuts, it's just a balance of time and cost and how nice you want it to look.

Thoughts on a 4 Tap Kegerator?

Here is a fairly simply keezer build I did. Just a small chest freezer with a 8 inch lumber collar and an oak board façade. It fits 3 kegs and a CO2 tank inside or 4 kegs with the tank outside. There are videos on youtube showing similar designs. It's nothing too fancy, but it looks decent...
