    Contradicting grain bill weights.

    I ordered 9.3 pounds of grain at my local homebrew store. When I weighed the grains today and measured at 10.3 pounds. I don't know which one is most accurate so I compromised at 9.5 pounds.     Purpose of airlock

    So if the krausen has not fallen I'm probably ok? How soon does the krausen fall? I went three days w a dry airlock.

    How can air get in when I have the top on the airlock? II don't see how the middle piece keeps the air from getting in. I understand how the airlock can be used for letting the co2 out without letting air in but I never got the need for the middle piece and liquid.

    I understand how it shows if the beer is fermenting but serve any other purpose ? The reason I ask is I couldn't find my middle piece when I finished brewing. I just placed the airlock and lid on. I trust it will ferment.

    Took nap during mash and alarm didnt wake me.

    I woke up after it had been mashing an hour and a half. It's currently draining but ill be late with my sparge too. Did I ruin it?

    Moldy mash tun

    I just found another thread where this happened. The poster claimed it smelled like a landfill and a couple others had to throw out their coolers bc they couldn't eradicate the smell. I just rinsed mine out w boiling water and now it smells fine.

    I used a toilet supply line so I'm no 100 percent sure the type of metal it is. Otherwise it's a cooler w the metal misc parts

    I thought I cleaned my mash run last week but upon opening it today I learned my memory failed me. There was mold growing away. If I clean the mold out a hot water and soap will that be sufficient?

    If I've rinsed my bottles well can I just sanitize them before bottling my beer? Or should I wash w soap/ozyclean before sanitizing?
