I stopped at the LHS last night and he recommended a finger pinch or no more than 1/8 teaspoon of champainge yeast a couple hours before I bottle. Should I do that just to be sure?
Okay I never bottled this back in October and it has been sitting in carboy ever since. Should I repitch now or is there enough yeast alive to bottle now.
I brewed a 10 gallon batch of 2 hearted clone back on 8-24. It was to be 1 week fermenter, then dry hop another week in primary then rack to secondary and sit for 2 weeks then bottle. I did everything up until the bottle in 2 weeks. It has been in secondary 6+ weeks now and I would like to...
wilserbrewer,
my goal with this spreadsheet was for me to figure out what I wanted in the fermenter. I use 5.5 for the volume to the fermenter, but usually only bottle around 5 gallons. As you say that is my adjustment for the yeast cake and trub loss. I usually finish my boils with about...
I finally used this spreadsheet this weekend on 3 different brews. All 3 hit the numbers like they were supposed to.. I did bump my strike temp up 1-2 degrees so the average of my mash time would be the target number in the spreasheet. With wrapping the pot with an old sleeping bag I could...
So from that book it gives hop additions for extract and 60 minute boils and then it gives the all grain formula too with 90 minute boils and says to use so many percent less of the hops. If I do 60 minute boils should I also use the hop additions from the 60 minute extract formula?
Thanks guys.
I have brewed a couple things from the book "Clone Brew" and followed the 90 minute mash and 90 minute boil doing BIAB. Has anyone else done the brews from this book with a 60 minute mash and 60 minute boil. I would also assume to use the hop additions at 60 full volume per the 60 minute...
MaxStout,
Not sure why you can't open it. Maybe save it to your desk top and try opening it. Opens on mine and others have been able to open it. It won't let me upload .xls just .xml per upload file names.
Attached a new spreadsheet as I added ABV, ABW, Calories and some other data...

I just created the above link with an excel spreadsheet today and have updated it since I originally posted it. I have add ABV, ABW, calories and more too. I will post it tomorrow. Haven't tried it yet but it is based...

I know a lot of people have put calculators on here and the web. I wanted something to fit what I needed so here is what I came up with. Anyone see any problems with it or suggestions to add? How do the numbers look to some of you who may use them?

wilser,
I was just thinking below the cake cooling rack or whatever I put in the bottom to lift up the bag would not be in contact with the grains and that the pump would help move the wort around to even it out and extract the sugars. I have done about 10 the regular way and was just...
So how many people are using recirculating pumps when doing BIAB? I just pulled the trigger on a spike brewing 15 gallon pot and thinking about a small pump to recirculate to make sure there are no dead spots in the wort. I had him make my pot with the thermometer 1.5" off the bottom instead...
