The scientific method at work everybody! That's awesome that you had the capability (and desire) to test this. You're awesome.

What are you using? / What are you building?

I'm just at the beginning of this automation process, but I'm with you on the wish list. I'm a developer so running all this via web/mobile app makes perfect sense to me. The electronics are very intimidating, presently. However, I'm learning arduino and it's very intuitive and fun.

Is two row and pale malt the same thing?

seems like it's pretty easy to mix up - which is probably why people seem to simply call it "two row"

Is two row and pale malt the same thing?

Thanks for your quick answer! So, when a recipe says "11lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM)" - I could get away with either one? or it's telling me pale is preferred?

Is two row and pale malt the same thing?

I'm starting to move into all grain brewing and I see recipes calling for Pale Malt (2 Row), and others for just 2 Row. Are those the same thing?

How do you take hydrometer readings while it's in the carboy?

Thanks all! (especially revvy for using pics!) I thought perhaps I was missing something, but I guess i'll just use the turkey baster - or spring for the thief. Has anyone heard of having succes with digital hydrometers? Probably very expensive, and it doesn't look like it's long...

How do you take hydrometer readings while it's in the carboy?

Hello All, Noob question... I have a turkey baster/wine thief that I can use to take out some beer for a reading, but I feel like i'm wasting too much when I do that. Are folks just dropping their hydrometer in the carboy? Thanks!
