I don't see why it would work. However, shaking is a very efficient and low cost option as well.
Not to mention all the microbes and contamination possibilities hiding in your drill just waiting to fall into your beautifully fertile wort.
Did you happen to run any liquid out of the valve before heating? Is there a dip tube to trap a pocket of air? Were the hoses connected while heating?

Nothing special here, I decided to cut the top off my keg today.
I used a 4.5" angle grinder with a stainless steel cutting disk. Only took one disk (~$3) to cut the top off. I used the guard resting on the rim as a guide. Two passes and 10 minutes and it was all done.

I looked it up. I think you are referring to a whirlpool addition, guess I haven't heard anyone use that terminology before.
I set my whirlpool additions to 5 min additions in beer tools and that covers the utilization pretty well. Depending on the ambient temp you won't be converting too much...
Are those temperatures in the 100s? I may be reading it wrong? If you ferment above 80 F your going to have a lot of phenol = band aid.
