    So guys, if i backblend, am I OK to cold crash, then keg and force carbonate? No need for K-meta or heat pasteurization if in the Keg under C02 correct?

    I just mixed my first batch and am really looking forward to 3 weeks from now lol. When I added the malt extract which I had boiled w 1.5 gallons H20, and added my apple juice, over a few minutes it seemed the malt all settled to the bottom.     starting graff question

    Hi all, I am getting all together for my first batch. I bought 3lb can of malt extract, can't seem to dtermine if I need to mix with water and boil prior to primary or just dump it in "as is" with the apple juice. Appreciate any advice :)

    so everything arrived today and i am chomping at the bit :) quick question of many to come lol. i searched but couldnt find a clear answer to this, maybe its common sense? if i am using pastuerized juice, (also with a malt extract) no need to boil all prior to starting primary correct?

    Thanks much, thats exactly the info I needed. :) So you don't shoot for a certain SG prior to rack and crash? Seems some "let it go too far" (ie too low SG) which I can't quite get a grasp on.. I do plan to backblend this prior to kegging, so it may not even be an issue?
