I originally pitched this yeast on Kaiser's Altbier recipe and then pitched a dunkel style on the yeast cake because my pipeline didn't have the time to do a lager justice. This is a great yeast. It needs to ferment cooler than the WLP website says. The Altbier fermented around 61 degrees...
Have you checked our Kaiser's recipe? I just bottled a batch and it tasted fantastic without carbonation. I didn't do a decoction and I used WLP036 (dusseldof altbier yeast).
After racking off that yeast cake I followed with a dunkel recipe. I'm interested in the taste difference of the...
You need to go to Asheville if you're hitting NC. It's quickly becoming the beer capital of the east coast. Also, if your heading into Georgia I highly recommend Terrapin (in Athens GA) and/or Sweetwater (in Atlanta)
Brewers,
I just wanted to re-post a recipe that I found while searching for a Terrapin Hop Karma clone. All credit is due to marc06. It's his recipe, but I wanted to re-post and share. If you're a fan of this beer I highly recommend. I think the style fits perfectly with the weather as it...
Does anyone know of a homebrew website that allows for custom grain weight purchases (as in 1/4 lb, etc). I'm looking for a website where I can order my recipe crushed and delivered. Thanks for the help gents.

Does anyone know of a good/free online homebrewing calculator that I can plug in the percentage of each grain in my bill to calculate for a 5 or 6 gallon batch?
I'm trying to use Kaiser's Altbier recipe for a 5 or 6 gallon batch with a boil volume of 7.9 gal to finish with 6 gallons. Any...

I'm brewing the following "clone" recipe for Terrapin's Hop Karma this weekend. I could only find the "Special Roast" in a 1 pound bag. The recipe, courtesy of marc06, calls for .6 pounds. Should I add the whole pound? I've never brewed with this grain before and don't know much about it's...
Did you wrap the copper around the outside of the bucket, or did you coil it inside of the bucket? I like the diameter that coiling inside the bucket would give me. I just don't know how easy that would be vs coiling around the outside of the bucket.
I just received 50 feet of 1/2 inch copper from coppertubingsales.com . The problem is that I don't keg or have a corny laying around to use as a mold/form. Has anyone else used something different to form their immersion chiller? I do have a new keggle that I'm trying to make it for. I...
Thanks for the Alt recipe. I was originally thinking about an Alt yesterday. I went by my local beer store to try and pick up a bottle of an Alt to try the style first. They didn't have one in stock, but it essentially sounds like an ale version of an oktoberfest.
I'd like something that goes well with the incoming fall. I enjoy pretty much everything. I would like to stay away from something overly hopped. I was thinking about something like Terrapin's Hop Karma (formerly known as India Brown Ale).
