    I believe there's a way to guess based off the amount of sugar by volume, though I'm not sure of the calculation. Best to just go ahead and pick up a hydrometer for the future!

    First time making a bochet, its bubbling away on the stove top currently - any spice recommendations for secondary? Or just leave it plain? Looking forward to the taste of this one!

    Mix the sugar for sure, the yeast will prob be okay but if you don't see activity after a a day or two pitch new yeast

    Making my first batch of kombucha, I used 8 tea bags steeped for 15 minutes and one cup of sugar. Is yours normally this dark? All the pictures I've seen have looked lighter... Picture is before the scoby was added while its cooling to temp in the fridge. Thanks

    So once the hydrometer reads . 999 am I good to add the sorbates and super kleer then bottle the next day? Its only been two weeks but its fully fermented, should I wait the full month or go ahead now that its done? I've also been degassing throughout the brew, not sure if that matters

    Ouch, lol the Jack bottles are labels but on the top of the square part they do have jack Daniels printed into the glass. :\ Not worried about it for giving gifts to friends and family though lol

    Well, picked up the bottles today. 64 750ml jack bottles and one big bottle of jack, all for ten bucks! I think I got a good deal out of it all. :)

    Has anyone bottled into a jack Daniels style bottle? I found a local who loves his whiskey and is selling me 25 jack bottles for 10$! My mead won't be carbonated, and once done fermenting I'll throw in the sorbate and sulfate, possibly backsweeten with Honey. I'm still new to mead making and...

    Awesome, thanks for the information! Looks like I'll leave it to sit and clear with the airlock for a few months. That's the best explanation I've had on degassing!
