    Nutrient help

I want the final gravity to be around 1.02-1.025, so I want some sugar left over. I just put 24 lbs of honey with a total volume of 5.5 gals into a mead calculator and it said my starting gravity would be 1.16, bringing 1.16 down to between 1.02-1.025 would give me about 18% abv if i did that...

    Getting into ag brewing

Any suggestion on a kettle, should I get a ball valve, and a dial thermometer? Immersion chiller or plate chiller? Thanks, I was thinking of getting one while I was brewing. Never ended up getting one but will definitely look into them again.

    Getting into ag brewing

Thanks for the replies, I looked into BIAB and it looks like it might be a good place to start. Going to look into what a nice 15 gal kettle, and a wort chiller will cost me.

I have not brewed beer in a few years, but brewed about 15 batches with extracts, and want to get in to brewing again and am thinking about all grain. I will most likely be brewing mostly stouts, and am looking for a basic set up. I am thinking of buying a cooler mash tun, and a 15 gal...

First timer: Do i do it?

The honey flavors you use will come out in the final mead. If you want a bold flavored honey try buckwheat. If you find a good online honey distributor the often describe the flavors of the different honey. I buy my honey from flyingbeeranch.net

First mead (cyser) in primary. Questions and concerns.

1.171 is a high OG, has fermentation started? I am unfamiliar with that yeast but it might be hard to get started in that high of an OG. The quick search I just did says it can ferment up tp 12% that would leave you with a fg of 1.08. that is pretty sweat. If this is right I might think...
