    Homebrew Shops, Dust, and Rodentia

    Austin Homebrew is my LHS and they don't have dust problems. They also have a large grain room visible to the store floor that I believe is under negative pressure. Also, all workers don respirators before going in.

    Lighting the strike water for my Sierra Nevada clone. I won't be dry hopping it, but I'm hoping a very late 1 oz cascade hop edition will make up for that.

    So I want to pitch onto the yeast cake from my current batch of kölsch after I crash cool it for a week. Is that possible? Should I slowly raise the temp befoe racking fresh wort onto it?

    Why use slants ?

    From my microbiologist days, we used slants because you had the advantage of maintaining small, easy to hold and sterilize vessels, while creating greater surface area for growing.

    Adding anything to the brew without sanitization is very risky. Are you boiling your cider?
