    SAF 05

Ok...5.8% . Thanks for sending me in the right direction. According to the calc...I have a current gravity of 1.007.

    SAF 05

Haha....I'm going to go watch a YouTube video. I don't think I'm smart enough to use that calculator.

    SAF 05

Using the calculation it comes to 3.57%. Same as what I was getting using the SG Wort numbers in a traditional abv calculator... Maybe I missed something... won't be the last time.

    SAF 05

The right side of my scale says SG Wort. It has the scale built in.

    SAF 05

Second all grain batch had an OG of 1.054. Bbwesmith called for 1.1 packages of SAF 05. I pitched a single packet last Friday. Friday night I had slow bubbling taking place. The blow off hit it's peak on Sunday. Activity slowed quickly after Tuesday and by Wednesday I wasn't seeing much...

    Brew in progress

We won't know for a bit yet on the fermentation, in will post back. Could it be that i just took to long stirring out the dough balls? It was probably 38 degrees where I was brewing. I think my beersmith equipment numbers are just a bit off. 10 gallon cooler tun, i had it in beerswmith as 10...

    Brew in progress

Been a while since I tied a fly. Thanks... In the grand scheme of things I think I recovered pretty fast, so let's hope the "interesting" profile didn't do too much. The rest of the brew went perfectly.

    Brew in progress

Well, I have hit my numbers.... or close... preboil gravity was 1.043...target was 1.040. But I am ok with that...

    Brew in progress

Hi, I am in mash right now. I am using beersmith. When i added my grains to the strike water and took a temp reading I was at 141. So i drew some of the mash water out of the ball valve and heated it. I ended up at 164 as i heated to great a volume. I then added some cold water to bring...

    New Monster Mill

Hi, I got a new monster mill mm2 and I set the gap to .04. Does the grain look ok, or is it too fine. I am doing batch sparging so I am thinking this is going to be fine, but my wife tells me that I don't know very much. Thanks in advance for any information. -Matt

anyway to salvage my first all grain brew?

Wow great research paper...I wish he had looked at the 3 roller monster mill. I think that is going to be my next purchase. So I ended up buying 40 lbs instead of the 20. I went to a brew store that didn't mill, and I remembered I bought my wife a $500 Komo Magic Mill. I decided I would use...

anyway to salvage my first all grain brew?

Great advice thank you! When I take my sparge sample should I see a different reading than my initial reading? I would have assumed that the wort from the mash first running would have a higher gravity than the sparge sample?

anyway to salvage my first all grain brew?

So I quickly sanitized my auto siphon and took a sample. It is coming in at 1.010 after 10 days in the fermentation chamber sitting at 68. It tastes pretty good. You can certainly taste the alcohol. I still have fermentation taking place also. All thermometer readings were double checked...
