I've been busy re-saving all my programs, links, etc after the hard drive software had some problems with playing nice together. So, while looking up my old links to save, I decided to save & post all the cool old, colorful recipes I found on the page with the Mumme I'm about done fermenting now. From Mumme to Jihau, to a Neolithic Scot's heather ale. I hop you find them as fascinating as I did!...:mug:

Always cool to place well in a competition! I might try that recipe someday when I can dedicate equipment to sours &/or wild fermentations...

That colonial porter recipe looks good, I'll add that to the 'to brew' list. Thanks!

I did that recent article on Gruit so this kind of stuff always interests me. I was actually talking to one of the Penobscot native Americans up here and Maine and he was telling me they have a old recipe that they used Chaga and wood mushrooms in. Ended up as a really earthy beer but in a good way according to him. I'm tweaking it a bit and going to use Truffles since my local wine shop got some black truffles in recently and they aren't badly priced. I will be using Chaga as I already have it but once I come up with the recipe I'll post it. Using a wild Maine captured yeast as well.

Yeah, I'm starting to like this gruit stuff myself as of this year. Going to do a couple, then back to old American beers for my book. :mug:

Thanks. The business end of self-publishing is tough, especially if you don't know much about it?! One thing I don't like about Kindle Reports is, it doesn't tell you what book sold in what country. Just the prices of what sold in a given country.
The colonial porter & a couple other historic American-style beers may likely see my PM/PB BIAB versions in the book to represent different beers/historical highlights of brewing in this country. Some version of my Snowbound Porter will be included in this 2nd HB book, as will a newer version of my Queen Anne's Revenge Whiskely Stout, my hopped & confused hybrid lager, &?...
I'm also going to plug these recipes into BS2 & get some numbers, maybe see if I can convert them to my style of PM.
