Do you guys rinse your iodophor?

I know it's a "no-rinse" santizer, but it leaves behind a weird smell so I always rinsey anything that has been soaking in iodophor.. Am I crazy? Do you guys do this?

Nope...No rinse means no rinse....You are kinda defeating the purpose if you are rinsing sanitizer with tap water.

It and starsan are no rinse, wet contact sanitiser...rinsing and/or letting dry, reduce the efficacy of it...

At the proper dillution ratio (as of Dec 07) of 1tbs/5 gallons, there will be no effect on your beer.

I think this question is much like the "do you rehydrate your yeast" question. There is a recommended way and another way that works just as well. That being said...

I rinse my iodophor with tap water. I brew extract with partial boils and top off with tap water. I've had no sanitation problems in the 3 years I've been brewing.

Yes, there is an odor. It goes away if you let the implement dry. That said, I regularly spritz racking canes, hoses, wine thief, etc. etc. with iodophor solution, wait 90 seconds or more, then shake the remaining iodophor off. I don't taste it in my beer.

Side note: Don't shake glass hydrometers. I snapped one in my hand doing that. No harm done, luckily.

I don't rinse my kegs or fermenters -- just let them drain upside down. Odor or not, I rinse my racking cane and wine thief with tap water. I'm impatient and don't want to wait for those to drain.

Yes - I do the same thing, and top off with COLD well water...makes the chilling faster..no raging infections ever !
