Today I'm brewing a Mini Mash Belgian Wit Kit from Austin Homebrew Supply. Today will be full of firsts for me:

1. First time brewing outside.

2. First time using a propane burner.

3. First time using an immersion chiller.

Should be exciting.

Already surprised by the power of the burner and overshot my mini-mash temp. Now waiting for water to cool off.

Brewer's Friend checklist, recipe, and AHS Texas Blonde from the kegerator.

Assistant brewer Malty Rolo Brown. Note how he is not resting in the bed I set up for him so he would not get quite as dirty. Not sure why I even tried.

More to follow...

Mini-mash.

So that's what a vigorous boil looks like!

Pre-chiller set up and ready. It still took 20 minutes and 30 gallons of water to get to 80 degrees. I didn't stir the wort, maybe that would have helped.

Sanitizing the chiller.

Sleeping on the job.

Looks promising!

The finished product. I'm happy with the color.

Carbonation is just right, nice white foamy head.

That wit looks excellent! Also, I'm a little surprised that it took that long with an immersion chiller. I've never used one but I definitely thought it would work more quickly...

My tap water was 84 degrees that day. Also, I didn't know how to adjust the immersion chiller to get more of the coils in the beer. On my last brewday, the Holliday Chocolate Stout from Austin Homebrew, I adjusted the coils and put 20 pounds of ice in the pre chiller bucket. It went a lot faster.
