Hi,
I've already bought a couple recipe kits from a local brewer and they are currently in primary fermentation. I'm interested mostly in German style beers. I was wondering who everyone thinks has the best kits and also some advice of making your own recipes (buying materials in bulk). Thanks for the input!

It's not the style you seek, but I liked my Brewer's Best kit. It was an American Pale Ale. The instructions sucked, but the recipe was solid.

I've got a BB European Bock in secondary right now and will be bottling this week; I'll let you know how it turns out but so far it's pretty tasty from what I've sampled. Seconded on the instructions sucking; I just follow what is in The Complete Joy of Homebrewing.

Morebeer, Midwest supplies, and northern brewer all have good kits for extract with steeping grains. And since you are in jersey brewers apprentice sells kits I think and you can get stuff from Corrados in clifton

The German Altbier kit from Northern Brewer is fantastic, highly recommended. It might be a better beer to do in the fall/winter though, because the lower ferm temp (~58-60) is preferable.

So far I have enjoyed the Brewers Best kits! Very solid. I recently did a AHS and it is in the primary now, although I will mention I converted it to a full boil rather than a partial.

I started with Brewers best kits, and made several great batches of beer with them. These days I do not do a kit, I just make a shopping list based on a recipe i see, and the LHBS fills my order. It has everything a kit would.

My LHBS is online as well. The grape and granary. I have purchased 5 kits so far. The Belgium wit came out amazing and the light ale is pretty close to your typical lite beer. Maybe a little more fruity, it is still young though. I am not far enough ahead in my brewing to let them condition properly.
