I have one Vial of Vermont Ale that will expire february 11.
I cannot brew until mid march. What kind of starter should I make to get this yeast survive until mid march?

1) Make a 1.035 gravity 0.5L starter in a 2L flask with stir plate that should bring the starter to about 120billion cells (according to brewersfriend calculator)
2)cold crash for 24h in the fridge.
3)transfer the 0.5L starter into a sterile mason jar and keep it in the fridge.
4)restart the yeast that was in the mason jar before my next brew like a new fresh Vial. (should be around 90-100billions cells)

Thanks

I'd personally just leave the vial in my fridge till just before I needed to make a starter. I've used vials that were up to a year past the expiration date with no issue. I don't pay much attention to when they expire anymore to tell you the truth. I surely wouldn't worry about a month or two...
