Hi,

I am doing my first yeast starter. Last night I added 16 oz of water and the 1/2 cup of DME and boiled it and then cooled and added the yeast. It is good and the ring of yeast is on the bottom and the air lock is slowly going up and down. I would like to add another wort to it. I want to brew on Sunday so it would need to be ready Sunday night. Can I add the new wort now and should you decant? If you should decant how do you get the yeast out of the bottom into the new vessel?

Go ahead and step up your starter if you want.

You dont have to decant, I usually do if I have a large starter and minimal head space in the fermentor. Other than that i pitch the whole thing.

if you decant leave a small amount of liquid in the flask, swirl it around and it will all pour out.

good luck
