Hey Everyone,
I know there is a ton of information on yeast farming, washing, slanting and storing. I use a few of them already but wanted to try something new.
I realized that a single vial of White Labs yeast is good enough to ferment 5gallons of a low gravity wort. I often pitch the fresh vial into two 1liter starters. The first one goes to the brew, the 2nd one is farmed and used for future brews.
Here is my idea. Open a fresh vial and using a sterilized syringe, draw out maybe 1-2 ml of yeast. Recap the vial and return to the fridge.
Then inject the 1-2ml into a 100ml starter.
If done this way, a single vial could potentially last me 17-35 brews.
Any thoughts on this from the more experienced yeast farmers / bankers?
