I got the chance to help out at a 7bbl brewery today. I freakin' loved it! [Insert a Snoopy dance here]
Anyway most of my day was all about watching and picking my buddies brain on the process.
The main things I learned were that the concept is the same as homebrewing. The process is a tad different though. They had no HLT, instead you heat the water in the BK, use that to fill the MLT. Then heat another batch and store it in your fermentor, to use for the sparge.
I didn't get to really help until it was time to rake the spent grains out.
Plus I was granted the privilege of rinsing all the tanks and some of the lines! I'm a lucky guy!
Plus side? I got a keg of their stout for my efforts! That was cool!
