Wine fridge fermenter

Has anyone used a wine fridge vs a mini fridge for a fermentation chamber? With their temp range of 40s-60s they could be ideal and eliminate the need for an additional thermostat. The only thing I'm unsure of is if a smaller 8 or 12 bottle wine fridge can cool a wood/ridged foam box enough. I'd hate to buy a new or used one and have it blow out.
