In my 2 kettles, my whirlpool arm is located at the top. Similar to this:

I think mine are both 12" long on each vessel (10g pot and a keggle), with just a quick 90° bend at the end. Not too fancy, but works perfectly. Hugs the side nicely and stays out of the way. Bargainfittings has lots of fittings to make this work well.

Basically, I pump from the bottom valve and return back through the upper fitting to create the whirlpool.

I hope I'm being clear. I just woke up! :ban:

I use this...

It's safe up to 250 degrees, so fine for a whirlpool too... I did use a long tube that sent liquid down close to the bottom of the kettle but that didn't work well at all resulting in severe stratification - 80 degree wort at the bottom and 170 at the top!

I worried about that as soon as I set mine up, so I bent the tube a little more than 90° so it shoots the wort on a little angle upwards. I can see a slight disturbance at the surface, so it seems to have worked well. The temp is also close to the same throughout. My tube only goes down about half way too. I forgot to mention that. Thank you! I do also think there may be some stratification if the adjustment isn't made on the bend. Although, when a whirlpool is in full effect, the wort should mix around quite a bit...

This will not work as my coupling is about 6" from the bottom.
