This is my second home brew and I am going to make a chocolate Irish stout. I found a kit from Midwest supplies but it asks you to chose the type of yeast you would like, I don't have a clue I have been so busy researching general techniques and equipment that I haven't had time to research yeast.

The kit can come with

munton's 6gm dry yeast

Fermentis Safale S-04 11.5 gm dry yeast**

w/Irish Ale Wyeast Propagator 1084

w/Irish Ale Wyeast Activator 1084

w/ White Labs Irish Ale 004

What do you think would be the best choice for a beginner

S-04, no question. Make sure you properly re-hydrate prior to pitching. Search these forums to learn how.

The Wyeast and White Labs products are also AWESOME, but until you are ready to make a starter, I'd go with the dry.

Heres some good stuff for learning about yeast. Mr. Malty
