Trying to determine Malt Type

Help! I purchased 25 pounds of malt from a supplier going out of business. Forgot what he told me it was. The grain sack says " Pauls Malt LTD" Kentford, New Market, Suffolk, England. Product of the UK. Packaged for Cargill Malt - Specialty Product s Group. Net Weight 55lbs. No other marking other than 30L which was added by the seller at some point.

If I had a gun to my head and had to choose I would have amber base malt and crystal 30l bouncing around in my head. Chew a few grains. Amber base will be hard. Crystal will be hard, more crunchy, and sweeter sooner.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to say that it is the Amber Base Malt. The grains are hard but with no sweetness, in fact it is sightly bitter with a "dry" after taste.

If you have a LHBS try taking it there and taste their grains and compare it to yours
