I noticed it looks like a lot of the yeast is crawling up to the top. I don't know if i should shake it up real quick? Or does this usually happen

Once again I am very new to the hobby

looks perfectly normal to me. I've only shooken up one carboy during fermentation for that same purpose and it seemed to more or less taunt the yeast to climb higher heh.
 
Neh. I mean, if you want, ok. So long as it's not intruding on your airlock.

Neat how the powdered spices end up riding the head huh! I've got a batch doin that too.. I hope it keeps the spices out of suspension somewhat cos I was a bit generous with the nutmeg myself.
