Was going trough a recipe book (a Afrikaans cook book)and found a recipe for (koring bier)"Wheat Beer" but considering the recipe, its more of a ginger beer and I dont know why the wheat is in there?
it's 200g of whole wheat curnels and 200g of brown sugar, bread yeast. 1L of water and some ginger. it is interesting and i am trying it now. It basicaly calls for the above mentioned ingredients to be mixed with WARM water and left to ferment for 24 hours. After 24h you pour it off and just add another batch of water and suger, and so it continous giving you a liter a day.
so obviasly its sweet and still Fermenting and tastes like ginger beer.

But got me thinking of beers made just from sugar?
Is the something like that out there? has anybody tried a hop'ed beer made just from suger? (and yes, bla bla bla....."will tast like cider"....bla bla)
so.....?

PS. (and I think it has something to do with the fact that I ran out of malt?:p)

It isn't beer if you don't include grain.

A drink made using the same process using only sugar is MEAD.
