hello all,
i am new to kegging and purchased a set up the other day and plan on kegging for the first time this weekend. the original keg has all stainless gas in and pick up tube. but, today i purchased a second used keg and it smelled bad of soda.....so im gonna clean the heck out of it. upon closer inspection i realized that the gas in tube is RED and made of PLASTIC!
is this normal ? has anyone ever used these gas in tubes ?
or should i replace it b4 this weekend?
thnx in advance for the groups help.

are you talking about the little 2" shunt that sit below the gas in poplett ?
if so it really does not matter what its made of all its does is fill the gap and make the seal, the bev out has a tube and the tube makes the seal between the popplette and the keg post and get the bev out
on teh gas side all it reall is , is a washer to make the seal

on a few of my kegs i replace the little short gas in tube with a bev tube so the CO2 bubbles up in teh beer makes carbing faster
