I've seen some people using a STC 1000 temperature controller from China for their ebrewing system. Is there a limit to what heating elements I can use it with? It says 110V. I was planning on using a 4500W 240V heating element.
Are the parts compatible?

I know its a cheap-o temp. controller, but that's exactly why I'm interested in it. My brewing budget is virtually nonexistant.

Anybody who responds with experience or knowledge will be greatly appreciated.

you would use it to control some relays unless you want to ise 1000w elements

Yes you can use this controller with 4500watt element. But you need an extra SSR and any spare wall plug adapter on 5v-32v.

You can get SSR's with a 110Vac coil/primary side that would work with the STC. I've got one driving an SSR on my refrigerator.

Something like this where the control/input is 120/240vac

Thank you, that looks like a good road for me to take. Is there a wiring diagram for a similar setup involving a low voltage controller and an additional ssr?

What would be an appropriate controller(that doesnt require an additional ssr) that is at the lower end of the price spectrum?
