Simcoe at 11.7%

What year was Simcoe at 11.7% aa? I just got a lb from Farmhouse brewing supply but I am quite sure this bag is 3+ years old. 2012 pellets were 13%, 2011 12.something. 2010? 2009?

Simcoe is grown on three different farms, and varying lots are tested with some variance. So I wouldn't try to guess the crop year by the alpha acid %.

For what it's worth, I picked up two pounds from them too. (Good price!)

One is at 11.7% AA like yours. The other is 11.0% AA.

According to Farmhouse they're both 2012 crop year.

So . . . what are you brewing?

farmhouse is very reputable, many hbter's buy through john, myself included. he wouldn't pull any shady business. if they say they are 2012, they are 2012.

i also echo that each farm is a bit different, the AAs wouldn't be the same for an entire year unless it was a single crop single farm hop (like maybe el dorado was a year or two back)
