I need to move from a single regulator, 2 port manifold system, to a dual control regulator. Wondering what peoples' experience has been in adding on to a regulator vs buying a new dual reg. I have a backup regulator, so I should only need an additional connection from each reg body, right? One regulator I would use is from 2008, a T749, and the other is a 2016 T742HP. A new dual Taprite is >$105.
I am thinking, remove high pressure gauge#1, remove tank nipple/nut#2, replace with connector nipple. Thanks in advance.

I don’t see why that couldn’t work, I have not done it and I don’t think I’ve ever seen it done but it should work.

It'll work - that's how they gang regs after all :)
Just have to make sure threading of the nipple is correct. I'm pretty sure Taprite high pressure threads are reverse.
Also, don't go too long or it'll get tippy with a 5 pound cylinder. I have three duals and one of them was built with a too-long nipple which necessitates a tank stand lest it fall right over...

Cheers!
