I found an opportunity purchasing the follow equipment for half price. How? I found a guy who has these things used.

1. Five gallon keg system with documentation and instructions: http://www.northernbrewer.com/pics/fullsize/keg-system.jpg $57

2. 5 lb Aluminum CO2 cylinder: http://www.northernbrewer.com/pics/fullsize/c02cylinders.jpg $40

3. Johnson Controls Refridgerator Thermostat (for brewing lager) http://www.northernbrewer.com/pics/fullsize/johnson-controller.jpg $20

4. Yeast Starter Kit http://www.northernbrewer.com/pics/fullsize/2000starterkit.jpg $15

5. Super Agata Bench Capper http://www.northernbrewer.com/pics/fullsize/capper-agata.jpg $17

6. 7 stoppers, 6 airlocks, carboy drying rack, hydrometer, some caps, sanitizer, calcium carbonate, gypsum, Irish moss, syphon, and various other things: free if you purchase items 1-4

$149 for everything.

Am I being too frugal? Some of you are surely thinking, "Shut up and buy something already."

Thanks for your help. The banana thanks you for help, too. :ban:

Edited to show direct pics of items.

Maybe I'm dense but I'm confused about just exactly what it is you are getting based on the web pages you posted.

If you are getting a CO2 tank/cylinder find out what size and what the date of the last test was and whether it's a steel or aluminum tank.

Used cornies go for about $20, refurbished used cornies $35

Regulators can get beer in them and can be useless after that.

wouldn't worry too much about the steel/aluminum c02 tank...when you switch it out they'll give you an aluminum one usually. and as far as the hydro testing - find a fire extinguisher shop - here they will pick up - hydro test - and deliver for around $40 for a 20# - nbd

a cheap 8$ one way valve for your c02 tank assembly will ensure you don't flood it with beer

I want to know where you are exchanging your tanks at. My place will only give you a steel tank if you bring steel. Wish they would give me an aluminum one, then I would keep it and just get it filled. Oh well, I'll just keep hoping they screw up one day.

Cheers

i used to use national welders here in sc - but i switched to a local guy who owns a medical gas supply company. but when i did business with national welders - i always got an aluminum tank. i've really never been hung up about a tank aluminum or steel - i'm more interested in the price of c02 - i've never got a tank "filled" i've always exchanged them

You aren't confused, I am just new. Beside each description, it mentions what I am getting. For example, the thank is alum and 5#.

Also, what is a cornie? Is that short for cornelious keg?
