Hey noob question.

I boiled water in my erlenmeyer and then took it off the boil and put my DME in. Extract got all clumpy so I swirled and shook it to fully dissolve.

Will there be any oxidation issues per oxidizing hot wort? I did boil it again after dissolving.

That damn DME gets so sticky.

You actually want the oxygen in the starter. It helps the yeast propagate. They'll use up the oxygen, so if you're worried about that oxidizing your beer, don't worry. You should be oxygenating your main wort when you pitch that starter too. And remember, when you're making a starter, you're not making a beer. You're trying to ensure yeast health and increase cell count.

Yes, DME is very messy. It's such a fine powder it gets on everything.

do that. In fact don't turn the burner on high at the start if you have dme in the flask (as I do). It has to mix before the bottom is too hot or it will burn.

o2 is only a problem days after you start to ferment the beer itself.
