I don't usually drink mixed drinks, but I want to have a basic bar set up for when guest come or if I do want a martini.

I never drink sugared drinks or soda, but wouldn't mind having a small canned or glass jar of juice in the cupboard for mixers. (I don't drink juice, or lemonade myself). I can buy tonic water or club soda, and keep that on hand.

I have two good bottles of gin, a decent bottle of vodka, dry vermouth, good tequilia, and probably some other "gifted" bottles like a bottle of Seagram's 7. I often have a rum of some kind, depending on what people leave behind.

I always have green olives on hand, and usually lemons. I have a cocktail strainer, and lots of ice available.

What else do I need to keep on hand for guests who may want a cocktail with what I have above? What are some simple cocktails that I can whip up with a few more shelf-stable ingredients?

From Boozehound, by J. Wilson
Gins: one London style (e.g. Tanqueray), one Plymouth style, and Old Tom.
Whiskey: One good Bourbon (e.g. Buffalo Trace or Bulleit), one good rye (e.g. Rittenhouse), one good Irish (e.g. Bushmills), one good single malt Scotch.
Tequila: One each silver, gold, reposada, anejo.
Rum: One each white, aged, rhum agricole, cachaza.
Brandy: A VSOP and a Calvados.

Orange liqueur; maraschino liqueur; dry, sweet, and white Vermouth; Campari; Aperol; Angostura, Peychaud's, and orange bitters.

As I recall, there's a few more, but this is a good start for mixing almost anything. I, naturally, don't have much of this at all. But we don't entertain much.
