Putting together 2 beers for labor day weekend. Trying to keep at least one of them sessionable and came up with this simple recipe. Interested to see what everyone thinks.

Bairds Marris Otter 1823 4.0#

Columbus 0.5oz for 45 min
Columbus 0.5 oz for 15 min
Simcoe 0.5oz for 15 min
Columbus 0.75oz steeping
Simcoe 0.75oz steeping

Dry Hop
Columbus 1.5oz for 5 days
Simcoe 1.5oz for 5 days

Water (base: low Na/Ca/Mg/SO2/Cl, mod HCO3)
1.5 tsp gypsum
0.5tsp CaCl
0.25tsp NaCl

Yeast
Imperial Joystick @66F

est ABV: 4.5%

It looks good to me. I would probably add about half a pound of light crystal 10-20l just for some residual sweetness that you wont get without the larger grain bill.

The hops look good as well. I would probably back the 15 min addition down to 10 minutes and then add the steeping addition right at flameout and steep for 15 min before chilling.

But the recipe will probably work well as is!

Yeah I was torn about adding some light crystal. I've used the 1823 once in a SMaSH which had some decent residual sweetness, but I also brewed an OG of 1.066 for that brew.

I'll definitely use the flameout advice and I'll be chilling pretty slow cause of the heat right now so should get lots of steeping time

Update:
OG:1.042
FG: 1.008
All kegged up and going to clear up with some gelatin then I'll post a pic. Very happy with how this recipe turned out. Next time I may use a little more 1823 malt and less 2 row and shoot for an IBU closer to 55-60

Oh, wait... this one is for Labor Day weekend?

I hope it's a test version, see how quickly you can turn this over? :tank:

My post was a little delayed, so really I brewed this near 7/8. It was about a 13 day brew to keg process which still might be my quickest yet. I was going to have this be a test batch but it is tasting so good that I'd like to see if I can just not drink too much before Labor Day
:cask:

Very tasty and the 1823 MO keeps it’s from being too thin
