I have an outdoor refrigerator and a two stage Ranco temperature controller. I was going to shield the control unit from rain, snow, etc., but will prolonged freezing temperatures (down to 0 F) damage or otherwise affect the controller itself?

EDIT:
Should've looked at the manual first. -20 to 140 F acceptable for the control unit during operation. http://www.etcsupply.com/manuals/ranco_etc.pdf

If you keep it out of the elements it will be fine outside. I keep mine out in a shed year round for heating and cooling of my fermentation chamber.
