This was pretty cool. One of the members of my club organized a group buy from an upstate NY craft maltster who contracts with a sailboat delivery company. They cruise down the Hudson River making stops at bunch of breweries along the way. We were one of two homebrew clubs on this trip. From here in NJ, they load up 10,000lbs of coffee for upstate roasters. We’ll definitely be doing this more often!

So how can I get in on the delivery next time? How much a sack?

With delivery it was $90 per sack. This is the maltster:

Since they come down here anyway to pick up the coffee, I don’t think the size of the order matters. We only ordered about 8 sacks.

I don’t know when we’ll do it next, but if I remember I’ll ask our organizer to add you if you like.

Pickup is at Waterfront Park in Carteret.

In the Fall, maybe they could bring down boxes of cider apples that are plentiful in upstate NY but hard to find in NJ.
