Anyone use S-23 at higher temperatures, as an ale? How did the beer end up compared to using an ale yeast (US-05)? Would you recommend this? I have an extra packet of this and was debating to use it for a simple American Ale. Thoughts?

Why not just save it for a Lager....otherwise just do a Steam Ale. :) You'd be pushing that yeast way out of its comfort zone. It would be an experiment though...

I've had no good results with that yeast at any temperature. I'm giving it one last chance doing my American Owl CAP split between S-23, S189, S-05 and WLP-802 all fermented @ 51.

I tried a Steam beer with it and the fruitiness of the yeast overpowered everything.
