I plan to make some hard Root beer. I saw a recipe that called for pasteurizing the bottles. Do I need to and how do I do it?

If you put the bottles in 170 degree F water you will get the effect.
I think a PBW wash followed by a Star San immersion will get you the same results.

Most likely to kill off the yeast and stop the fermentation process. You don't want any bottle bombs! I wish I known about it when making my last batch of rootbeer.

There are some threads on pasteurization in the cider forums that explain various methods of stove top pasteurization.
