So I've got 10 gallons of a Black Butte Porter clone sitting in my fermenter and I'm looking for Advice. I used 2 packs of Ringwood Ale Yeast, Wyeast 1187, in a 2.5L starter. The packs were older, back to April, but still had some swelling before I added them to the starter. I started them at 68 degrees and yet here I am almost 3 days later with no activity. I was out of O2 so only aerated by shaking. I am fermenting in an SS Brewtech Unitank, should I used the carb stone to add dome O2? Is ringwood ale typically slow to start?

Some people find Ringwood can be finicky. Friday now, and I'm guessing it has started up for you. If not, time to add new yeast, perhaps a dry yeast like US05 or the 04 option.
