RIMS wizard and step mashing

Has anyone had any experience stepping up with a RIMS wizard? Seems it is good for maintaing temps (which I can do just fine with my current HERMS setup) but can it effectively raise mash temps in a reasonable amount of time?

The specifications indicate that it is 1800 watts, which is going to be relatively slow at stepping up temperatures in 5 gallon batches.
